On Friday nights, September to May, from 6:30 pm to 9 pm, you can dance to live music in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It’s known as Geezer Happy Hour because you need to be over 60 to get in the door.
This YouTube is an interview with Randall Tessier, the organizer. He’s an instructor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, but he plays bass with the live band that turns out the music for the dancing geezers. This video has lots of still pictures of the Happy Hour.
The live band plays 60s and 70s music for the audience. “We are not a Lawrence Welk reenactment group,” says Randall. “We are living in the now.”
