Age hasn’t kept this woman from competition. 103-year-old Julia ‘Hurricane” Hawkins competed in the Senor Games in Albuquerque, NM, where she ran in the 50- and 100-meter dashes. She didn’t break her 40 second record, but still finished first and won her 100 Plus Division.
Julia trains in her garden in Louisiana. Her family says she’s always been active, but wasn’t an athlete. In fact, she didn’t start running until she was 101. She says she runs to inspire other seniors to get out and exercise.
So if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go get my running shoes on!
